The Moving Sun and the Foolish Boy

A foolish boy said:

“I will race ‘gainst the sun!”

But each time he failed

For it moved as he ran.

One step he takes,

The sun takes two;

And when he tries a three —

The sun does that, too!

The tired boy said:

“I will follow the sun.”

And this time he succeeded

For they moved as one.

In the morning when he rises,

The sun wakes up too;

And in the evening when he dozes,

The sun follows suit.

“Ho ho… ” the foolish boy said:

“I have made it my slave!”

And he thought he prevailed

And remained a knave.
