The poem they shall never read

the poem they shall never read

ruth mostrales

the poem they shall never read

like the letter i did not send

speaks all the truths i bend

when confronted with their deed

it is not wise to divulge the relevant

fear is a strong sensation

the inner editor makes demolition

of any tale that they can’t stand

i have often unsheathed veracity

but no one believed, no one smiled

when i replaced its lid, after a while

i earned their loyalty

yet, i continue to write in substantiation

of a turbulence within

internal verses in the lines and between

sugar coating my derision

one day, before the judgment

i shall be asked again, finally, and

freedom fettered will be free

to dance on heaven’s parchment —

in its entirety.
